Federal Resources That Can Fund Rapid Re-Housing

This chart will help communities determine which Federal funding sources might help finance rapid re-housing services, a less costly form of crisis response.

Communities must work to reduce the length of time families remain homeless by helping them obtain permanent housing as quickly as possible. Rapid re-housing is a promising means of reducing families’ exposure to homelessness by helping them move quickly into permanent housing while connecting them to community-based services. Rapid re-housing may be a preferable part of the homeless crisis response system than more costly, service-intensive programs that have higher barriers to entry like transitional housing.
