Between 2010 and 2020, the number of Veterans experiencing homelessness was cut in half . Unfortunately, that progress has stalled since 2016. Through the Permanent Housing Placement National Challenge , the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) aims to rehouse at least 38,000 Veterans.

Achieving this goal requires a collective effort by all VA homeless program providers, with particular focus on:

  1. Grant and Per Diem ( GPD )
  2. Health Care for Homeless Veterans ( HCHV ) Contract Residential Services ( CRS ) and Low-demand Safe Haven ( LDSH )
  3. Supportive Services for Veteran Families ( SSVF )
  4. Housing and Urban Development-VA Supportive Housing ( HUD-VASH )
