Since 2005, over 200 communities from coast to coast and across the globe have adopted the innovation of Project Homeless Connect, with many communities hosting one or more Connect events each year. Over the past few days, more than 25 communities have participated in the Fourth Annual National Project Homeless Connect Week facilitated by the Council, including 4 state capitals and several communities that hosted their inaugural Connect events. Why not adopt this innovation which has been proven effective in creating a trajectory out of homelessness in your community? We encourage you to practice “legitimate larceny” by mining ideas and best practices for a successful event from the resources below. Questions? Email us at nphc@usich.gov.

2008 NATIONAL PROJECT HOMELESS CONNECT WEEK

2007 NATIONAL PROJECT HOMELESS CONNECT WEEK

More than 6,000 elected officials and community volunteers extended a "welcome" to over 10,000 homeless neighbors at events in 25 cities coast to coast during the United States Interagency Council on Homelessness' 3rd Annual National Project Homeless Connect Week. The excerpts below from coverage of a number of these events in the Council’s weekly e-newsletter provide insight into the partnerships and organizational strategies that achieved results in creating a trajectory out of homelessness by making resources more available and accessible through the one day, one stop innovation of Project Homeless Connect.  More than 100 communities held Project Homeless Connect events during the 2007 calendar year.  Read More

2006 NATIONAL PROJECT HOMELESS CONNECT WEEK

Immediacy, hospitality, and community are the hallmarks of the Project Homeless Connect innovation which continued to take root in communities throughout the nation during 2006 National Project Homeless Connect Week facilitated by the United States Interagency Council on Homelessness.

With jurisdictional leadership from mayors and county executives, help from volunteers, support from business, and the cooperation of service providers and state and federal agencies, more than 15,000 homeless men and women were welcomed back into the community and provided assistance that moves them closer to permanent housing and self-sufficiency. The welcoming spirit is essential to results. As one homeless participant reported in his exit interview, "I felt I could be honest to them today." Read More
